Homeowner Protection Program: foreclosure assistance due to COVID

COVID-19 Mortgage Wellness Information

As part of a statewide collaborative effort with the Empire Justice Center and the Center for New York City Neighborhoods, all New York State homeowners struggling to pay their mortgage and property taxes during COVID that no-cost foreclosure prevention assistance is available immediately through Homeowner Protection Program (HOPP) providers across New York State.

This special initiative is designed to build upon outreach by HOPP providers and other organizations.  It is designed to convince at-risk households to seek assistance now instead of waiting until temporary state and federal foreclosure moratoria and forbearance periods end in the coming months.  With new COVID-relief mortgage assistance for homeowners becoming available, this is a critical time for households to get support that is available to them through the HOPP network.
